About

We’re the Jeffersons.
This is the hollow.

A working homestead at the end of a gravel road, in the Missouri hills.
I spent years as a transaction coordinator, the person forty-five real-estate closings at a time couldn’t fall apart on. Deadlines, checklists, systems: that was my trade. Then our family put down roots at the end of a gravel road in Missouri, and I discovered the “simple life” is the most complex operation I’d ever run, except now the deadlines were frost dates and Friday sundown. So I did what I do: I built the system. Now our year runs on the calendar God already gave, our Fridays end in candlelight instead of chaos, and I teach other families to do the same. And if you want to see it before you believe it, the cabin is nearly ready.
The family holding a sign reading We Found The One on the day the homestead became theirs
The day we found the one.
Two people painting an interior wall, one on a step stool cutting in along the ceiling
Every room started this colour.
A man leaning into a turquoise enamel range with a work light, fitting parts at the open oven door
It works now. It did not for a while.
A woman working at a laptop outdoors with a small long-haired dog in her lap
The office moves outside when the weather allows.

We keep the Sabbath from Friday sundown, we keep the feasts in their seasons, and we keep a guest cabin because some things have to be slept in to be believed. James builds things; I systemize them; the girls gather eggs and opinions.

A man in a barnyard with goats, a wheelbarrow of hay and two white livestock guardian dogs
Nobody does chores alone here.
Two cream-coloured sheep lying in deep straw behind a wire fence in the barn
Warm, fed, and entirely unbothered.

What we believe

We believe rest is commanded, not earned.

We believe a home can be productive and peaceful in the same week.

We believe order is a form of love, systems exist so people get the attention.

We believe the point of every checklist is not efficiency, it’s making room for what matters most.

We believe the calendar was given before it was ever printed: a Sabbath every week, feasts every season, rhythms older than the internet.

We believe in proof over performance. Real gardens have weeds. Real Fridays have a 4:00 scramble, until they don’t.

We believe hospitality is theology you can sleep in.

We believe the good life isn’t found in the hustle. It’s kept, weekly, at the end of a gravel road.

This is Hollow Road: a homestead that runs on rhythms, not chaos. Come in, Friday is coming.

We built this place slowly. The cabin sits at the end of the road, surrounded by trees, old logs, animals, and the ordinary work of home. We hope it becomes a place where you can do the same. Slow down, step away from the noise, and remember that you don’t have to hurry through everything.

Signed, Elizabeth
